Most people searching for where to sell collectibles have inherited a box, cleared a loft or finally decided to do something with a collection that has been sitting in a cupboard for thirty years. The hard part is rarely finding a buyer - it is finding one who will tell you honestly what is worth something and what is not.
That is the whole of our approach. Nick Barker looks at every item in front of you, explains what makes it valuable or ordinary, and gives you a figure on the spot. The valuation is free whether you sell or not, and nothing leaves the house unless you have accepted an offer.
If you spell it the British way, our sell collectables page covers the same service, and sell coins goes into detail on coin collections specifically.
Collectibles we buy
Coins and coin collections
Gold sovereigns, pre-1947 silver, pre-decimal British, world and commemorative coins. Usually the single most valuable thing in a box of collectibles.
Old banknotes
White fivers, pre-decimal one pound notes, ten shilling notes, Treasury notes, Scottish, Irish and world paper money.
Medals and militaria
WWI and WWII campaign medals, gallantry groups, cap badges, insignia and legal edged weapons.
Vintage watches
Omega, Rolex, Longines, Tudor, IWC and good quality pocket watches - working or not.
Gold and silver jewellery
Antique and modern pieces, broken chains, odd earrings, hallmarked silver. Scrap gold still has a hard cash value.
Small antiques and curios
Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian silver, cigarette cases, vesta cases, snuff boxes, pens, lighters and vintage tins.
Selling collectibles safely
Do not clean anything. This is the single most expensive mistake people make. A polished coin, a buffed silver box or a scrubbed medal can lose most of its value in thirty seconds. Leave everything exactly as found.
Do not split a collection before it is valued. Sets, runs and grouped medals are frequently worth more together than the sum of the parts. Let it be looked at whole first.
Get the metal checked before you accept a scrap price. Plenty of items sold as scrap gold or silver are worth several times that as collectibles. It costs nothing to find out.
